First it was the electric car and then it was the electric van and now a local car retailer has come up with an even more environmentally friendly and healthy option… ‘electric’ powered cycle!

The electrically powered cycle is now being offered as a ‘healthy option’ to motorists visiting two of Benfield’s City-Centre an alternative  to taking a courtesy car.

Customers at Benfield Nissan on Portland Road and Benfield Renault on Benfield Road, Newcastle can now opt to take a ‘courtesy cycle’ whilst their vehicle receives a health check or service at the dealership.

The cycle option is expected to be a hit with City-Centre motorists who live or work nearby the Benfield dealerships, who can conveniently drop off their car for a service or health check, and then cycle back to work or home whilst their car receives attention.

The novel idea has received support form electric cycle specialists Storck Raddar UK Ltd who have supplied Benfield with the cycles.

Ian Hughes, Managing Director Storck Raddar UK Ltd. “This is a great idea from the team at Benfield Motor Group who are not only keen cyclists but forward thinking on Electric transport.

Riding a bike has always been a lot of fun and convenient and now it’s even more fun and easier with electric power assistance.

It makes you feel you have legs like Superman (or Wonder woman). No more hills of headwinds to worry about, no more out of breath of getting sweaty after your ride.

Riding a Storck Multitask Raddar bike is like someone giving you a huge push from behind the saddle whilst you are riding.

Colin Pybus, Operations Director, Benfield Motor Group, said, “A number of City-Centre customers had suggested they would prefer a courtesy cycle rather than a car to nip back home or back to work as it was more convenient for them.

“We are expecting the cycles to be very popular with health enthusiasts and you can also choose how much assistance you require depending on how energetic you feel on the day.”
