North East and Great Britain Olympic Triple Jump hopeful Yasmine Regis is gearing up for the 2012 Olympics…. thanks to a little help from local car retailer Benfield Hyundai.

Yasmine, from Whitley Bay, who is hopeful of making the London 2012 Olympics, has been supplied with the car to help her meet her busy training schedule and attend important qualifying events around the UK leading up to the Olympics. She is being trained by Peter Stanley the former coach of North East Olympic World Champion Triple Jumper Jonathan Edwards.

Yasmine wrote to Benfield looking for support of her Olympic quest and Hyundai were happy to help her by loaning her the car.

Yasmine said, “This is great news for me and a fantastic gesture of support by Benfield Hyundai. Being able to make training and compete in the qualifying competitions is vital to my development and success so I am eternally grateful to Benfield Hyundai.

“My training is going really well and with London 2012 fast approaching this is a really exciting time for me and UK athletics.”

Peter Scott, General Manager, Benfield Hyundai, said “Yasmine thoroughly deserves our support and Hyundai are delighted to help her in this way. She has been performing outstandingly well recently winning high profile events and achieving personal bests. She is a great ambassador for the region and everyone at Benfield is right behind her in her bid to make the Great Britain Olympic team.”

Yasmine already has a Silver medal to her name as a runner up in the 2011 UK Championships and is a former Commonwealth games finalist and an under-23 record holder.

She is competing in the UK indoor Championships in February and is in outstanding form heading towards Olympic qualification in June.

Good luck Yasmine.
