A special fundraising Golf day for victims and families of those who had their lives tragically ripped apart by the Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan, was held yesterday (19th July)…raising in the region of £10,000.
The event was organised by members of the Nissan factory at Sunderland and North East based Benfield Motor Group and was supported by golf teams from throughout the UK motor industry.
Trevor Mann, Senior Vice President, Nissan Manufacturing, said “It was fantastic to see so many people from the Motor Industry coming together to help raise funds for the Red Cross Teams who have been working tirelessly in Japan providing first aid treatment, emergency healthcare and psychological support. Since the earthquake and tsunami more than 23,000 lives have been lost and 90,000 people are still living in temporary shelters like schools gyms and community centres. So far with the support of Nissan employees, their family, friends, our local suppliers and the wider North East community we’ve raised in excess of £50, 000.”
Dave Roberts, General Manager, Benfield Nissan, said, “Everyone has worked so hard to organise today’s event and raise much needed funds for victims of this tragic natural disaster. The support from people throughout the motor trade their families and friends and local business has been tremendous.”
The fundraising Golf day was held at Linden Hall Golf and Country Club in Northumberland.
